second Tutoring Observation
My second experience observing a tutoring session, the tutor started the session very happy and eager to help the student. He asked the student about the assignment and was constantly telling the student in an argumentative essay you don’t have agree 100% on what the writer is saying in the article you can choose what parts you agree with. The student didn’t argue her case she just agreed with everything the writer said even though she did not really agree when she talked to the tutor and I. The author of the article was neutral. The student seemed in a rush and wanted everything to be perfect. The student’s ideas were scattered throughout the paper the tutor created a diagram like this:
¶1 Statement Z
1st idea to support statement Z
2nd idea to support statement Z
3rd idea to support statement Z
In the end the student began to use the outline to organize her ideas I liked the diagram and will use it in the future when writing papers. The student didn’t have many grammatical errors or any major writing problems. It was a very quick tutoring session because the student had a paper already written. The student spent the whole session rearranging her paper so it could be organized.
